The Complete Guide to Intimate Waxing for Ladies
Waxing is one of our most popular treatments at pamperbanana Metro Spa, and we pride ourselves on being one of Bristol’s premier waxing salons. All treatments are carried out to the highest standard by fully-trained, experienced therapists who will make you feel as comfortable as possible throughout your visit.
That said, some people are put off of intimate waxing procedures because they don’t know what to expect, or have worries or concerns about the treatment. We’ve created a guide to hair removal, Bristol that will hopefully put any apprehension you may have to rest.
What to Expect
At pamperbanana, we use the highly-acclaimed Outback Organics wax and range of professional products with all Hot Flex Wax treatments. This collection uses a fusion of the latest cosmetic ingredients, along with innovative natural extracts from the coastline, forests and bushlands of Australia. They are expertly blended to produce exceptional efficacy and were carefully selected for their unique healing, soothing and nourishing properties.
Many people worry about a reaction from their first wax, and while you may end up with some slight irritation and redness, every person’s skin will react differently. It's vital that you opt for a professional salon with experienced therapists, who will be able to offer aftercare advice and products that will help to soothe and protect the area at home.
Does it Hurt?
One of the biggest concerns for most ladies who are considering an intimate wax is how much discomfort they will feel. Pain thresholds are different for everyone, and our therapists are trained in techniques that offer minimum discomfort for the duration of treatments. As with all new regimes, intimate hair removal can take a little bit of time getting used to, but the more treatments you have, the more normalised the sensations experienced become.
How Long Will it Take?
How long an intimate wax takes depends on various factors, including how much hair you have and which treatment you have. A session can take anywhere between 20 and 45 minutes.
How Often Do I Need a Treatment?
Again, all women are different, but most opt for regular treatments every four to six weeks. With every treatment, the hair grows back thinner and finer, making it much easier to remove as you establish a waxing routine. If you have a holiday coming up, you can adjust your waxing routine so that it fits in with your dates. Many women will notice a small amount of hair re-growth after a week or so, but it may take a few treatments before you receive optimum results. Hair will need to be at least ½ cm long before it can be successfully removed, so it’s best to refrain from shaving in between appointments. For hygiene and comfort purposes, we recommend that treatments are not done whilst menstruating as you are more sensitive around this time.
The Different Treatments
At pamperbanana, all waxing treatments are carried out to the highest standard by specially trained therapists you can trust. At pamperbanana Metro Spa, we offer hot flex waxes; a revolutionary new waxing system for sensitive and intimate waxing that is perfect for those who suffer from sensitive skin or are prone to hair breakage during waxing. This alternative is gentler on the skin, helps to prevent in-growing hairs and helps to minimise the painful sting that can be associated with strip waxing. Hot flex waxing will not leave any sticky residue and is perfect for intimate waxes such as Brazilian, Hollywood and Playboy. We also offer warm wax treatments, which are perfect for less sensitive skin.
Aftercare
When you opt for an intimate wax at pamperbanana Metro Spa, extensive and on-going aftercare advice from professionals is included in the price. Slight soreness, small bumps and redness are common, temporary reactions following an intimate wax, particularly if it is your first time. That said, if these symptoms do not subside over the next two days, don’t hesitate to contact us, as your therapist will be able to offer further advice.
Making sure you look after the waxed area over the next few days is vital to prevent any unwanted side effects. This entails keeping the area as clean as possible and avoiding any heat or friction over the next 72 hours. We recommend avoiding extra hot baths and showers, saunas, tanning, sports, tight-fitting clothing, swimming, and any deodorants, body sprays, powders or lotions that could cause irritation. To soothe and protect sensitive areas, we recommend the use of Outback Organics Bush Balm, along with the Outback Organics Skin Wash.
There are also steps you can take to avoid the growth of ingrown hairs following an intimate wax such a Hollywood, Brazilian or Playboy. This happens when a new hair fails to break through the surface of the skin, and curls back into the pore instead, often resulting in a spot. A few days after your appointment, scrub the skin three times a week with an exfoliating mitt. Should any occur, we recommend using Outback Organics Ingrown Hair Serum which will free the ingrown hairs via a dual action that exfoliates the area where the hair is trapped.
Establishing a regular waxing routine will work wonders for your personal care regime and having the treatment at pamperbanana Metro Spa will ensure you get the optimum care and results your body deserves.
